Ahmed Elborno, M.D is the director of Advanced Chicago Pain
and Spine Physician Centers/ Midwest Academy of Pain and Spine. He is
the director of the Pain Management Center of Excellence at Hinsdale
Hospital, and he is Medical Director/Anesthesiologist at Advanced
Ambulatory Surgical Center in Chicago.
Licensed in the state of
Illinois and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, he holds board
certifications from the American Board of Anesthesiology, subspecialty
in Pain Management, American Board of Pain Medicine, American Board of
Pain Management, Competence and Narcotic Certification, American Board
of Minimally Invasive Spine Specialists, American Board of
Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP), and the Fellow of International
Pain Physicians (FIPP).
Before Joining Adventist Hinsdale
Hospital, he was the Department Chairman of Anesthesia and
Peri-operative Pain at Rush Oak Park Hospital, Assistant Professor of
Anesthesiology at Rush Presbyterian- St. Luke’s Medical Center of
Chicago, and Medical Director at University Pain Center in Hoffman
Estates. He completed his fellowship in Pain Management at Rush
Presbyterian- St Luke’s Medical Center of Chicago, and his residency in
General Surgery and Anesthesia at Loyola University Medical Center.
Dr.
Elborno’s professional affiliations are many, including but not limited
to: American Academy of Minimally Invasive Spine Specialists, World
Institute of Pain (WIP), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of
the United States, Board Member of the American Society of
Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), Critical Care Society of
Anesthesia, Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, Society of
Pediatric Anesthesia, International Anesthesia Research Society, and
the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia. Dr.Elborno is the recipient of
numerous awards and tributes such as, American’s Top
Physicians-Consumer Research Council of America for Anesthesia and Pain
Management, Physician of the Year Award at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s
Medical University, Strathmore’s Who’s Who, and the National Leadership
and Businessman of the Year Award, 2003.
His areas of clinical
expertise include and are not limited to, treatment of neck and back
pain with sciatica and pinched nerves ( cervical and lumbar
radiculopathies ), failed back syndrome ( post laminectomy pain
syndrome ), intractable headaches facial pain syndromes, complex
regional pain syndrome, peripheral neuropathies, spasticity and
compression fractures related to osteoporosis. He is a highly qualified
specialist for various pain conditions. He provides the latest
techniques and modalities available in the field of interventional pain
management, using state of the art minimally invasive techniques, which
utilize percutaneous treatment including effective needle and probe
techniques which minimize patient discomfort while avoiding many
surgical and anesthetic risks and expenses.
His areas of
technical expertise include and not limited to spinal cord stimulaton,
peripheral nerve stimulaton, cervical and lumbar discography,
percutaneous disc decompression, intrathecal pumps, vertebroplasty,
facet blocks, nerve blocks, and joint injections
He holds
particular pharmacological and clinical experience that allowed him to
be a national and international speaker and instructor for many medical
device companies and pharmaceutical companies. He teaches minimally
invasive procedures to other practitioners nationally and
internationally. He has been also a speaker and instructor for spinal
cord stimulation and percutaneous disc decompression.
He is
national and international speaker in a variety of pain conditions
including and not limited to back pain and pinched nerve pain due to
herniated disc or failed back surgery, fibromyalgia, post herpetic
neuralgia and diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain.
